Malaga airport – Costa del Sol continues to grow and is positioned as the fourth most important in Spain. In the first half of this year it has seen an increase in both passengers and operations, as reported by AENA (Spanish Airports and Air Navigation).
Specifically, in the first six months of 2011 have passed through Malaga airport site 5.84 million passengers, which is an increase of 12.9% over the same period last year.
As for numbers of operations, 51,049 have been recorded so far this year, of which 49,053 corresponded to commercial flights. This figure is 7% higher than in 2010.
Thus, Malaga ranks as the fourth busiest airport after Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat and Palma de Mallorca.
In June, moreover, Malaga airport has reached a record of 1.3 million passengers, 8.3% more than the same period last year.
