Monda
Protected from the winds by the hill on which is situated
the castle of Villeta, Monda is a town full of history,
declared a Paraje Pintoresco in 1971. Its means of
communication with the coast are very good and within
its environment, the practice of game hunting and
small game hunting can be undertaken apart from potholing,
climbing and hill-walking. A privileged place in which
it is possible to combine rural tourism with vacations
at the seaside.

restaurant. The Marbella Gun and Country Club is also
nearby. Monda has several small shops, two banks,

essentially Spanish, although English is spoken in
most places.
History
Many historians have identified Monda with the ancient
Roman city of Munda Bética, place in which
the bloody battle between Caesar and Pompeii was waged
in 45BC. The town belonged to the Caliphate of Córdoba
and after the Christian reconquest, its Muslim inhabitants
were expelled from their lands in Muslim inhabitants
were expelled from their lands in 1570.
