Jubrique
Is set deep on the eastern slope of "El Bajo
Genal", inside the administrative district of
"La Serranía de Ronda". With a
population of 900 inhabitants, it maintains the typical
appearance of the mountainous, country towns, with
steep, narrow roads and whitewashed, low- lying houses.
It is an ideal place to practice all sports of open-
air activities in contact with nature.
In its municipal district, we can find some religious
buildings of great popular and historical interest:
the Church of San Francisco de Asís, the Shrine
of El Castañuelo and the Shrine of La Santa
Cruz del Chorrillo.
The local holidays and festivities are dedicated to
San Francisco de Asís and are celebrated during
October. Furthermore, another date of interest is
the one dedicated to the emigrant, celebrated in mid-
August.
In its gastronomy, the most relevant dishes are the
fennel stew, "el gazpacho caliente", the
cod pancakes and the pork cold cuts and the rest of
the pork derivates. The exquisite "mosto",
made with local grapes, serves as a good wine to wash
down such succulent delicacies.
