Santa María Golf & Country Club

The Santa Maria centre near Marbella is a progressive work with various artists:

• Antonio García Garrido (who worked with Manuel Piñero on La Quinta) designed the first 9 holes, opened in 1991
• the club's own experts opened the second set of 9 in 1996
• Dave Thomas designed 18 more holes, construction currently underway

Already one of the Costa del Sol's most popular courses, this final addition will make it one of the most challenging as well, with everything from outstanding sea views in its raised tees to well-defended, spacious greens. This course is situated in the Sierra Andaluza, and snakes through the natural, varied terrain formed by two valleys. This terrain includes pinewood and oak forestland, as well as a number of lakes and streams as course hazards.
