Mijas Golf boasts two 18-hole courses, both products of Robert Trent Jones Sr’s design genius.
The older of the two, Los Lagos (The Lakes) is mainly flat with wide fairways and large greens. The sparseness of trees and undergrowth is exchanged for an abundance of lakes, 9 precisely, which give the course its name. This long run of over 6,300 m is very popular in Andalucia, especially for amateurs.
In stark comparison, Los Olivos (The Olive Grove) is a smaller technical course with fast greens and tight, tree-lined fairways – a challenge for even the most advanced players. The terrain is more inclined, including several elevated greens, and has fewer water hazards and sand traps.
