Malaga car hire - How to get in and out of Malaga airport

The Malaga to Fuengirola train line stops at the airport. The train service runs from 6am to around 11pm. Trains for Torremolinos, Arroyo de la Miel and Fuengirola leave at 13 and 43 minutes past every hour. The last train leaves at 10:43pm.

Trains for downtown Malaga and the mainline train station leave at 15 and 45 minutes past every hour. The last train leaves at 11:45pm and a one-way ticket costs about 1€.

The high-speed AVE line from Madrid to Malaga started to run to the airport in January 2008.

By Bus

From Malaga airport to Malaga Bus station: Buses leave from outside departures and arrivals every 30 minutes from 6:30am to midnight. Cost: 1€

There's a large taxi rank outside the arrivals terminal. Taxis are provided by Radio Taxi (+34 952 040 804) and Unitaxi (+34 952 333 333).

By Car

For those who dediced to use a car hire Malaga company, the airport is easily reached via the N-340 / A-7 highway and access is well-posted. The airport has parking for some 1,450 cars and out of season there are usually plenty of spaces. There's limited parking space in the drop-off area outside the departure terminal, but it's best not to leave your car for long since tow-away trucks are often in action and no one really knows how long you're allowed to leave a car there.

Malaga airport parking costs 0.60€ for the first 30 minutes, 1.20 for the first hour and 0.90 for any subsequent hours up to a maximum of 24 hours. Long term parking is available in the smaller car park outside the old terminal (T1) for a minimum of 4 days at 4.30 / day.
