Finally summer has arrived and many of us have the image in our minds of enjoying a ride with a brand new cabrio car hire along a mediterranean motorway or through the streets of one of the popular resorts of the Costa del Sol.

The truth is that there is nothing better than feeling the wind under the open sky while driving your convertible, but to be honest, during the day in summer the sun is so strong that we definitely recommend a hat! If you don’t, you’ll feel like a “fried egg” sitting in the seat of your convertible car at a traffic light feeling the temperature of over 30 degrees Celsius. The best times to enjoy your Cabrio are the cooler morning hours and of course in the evenings.

The Costa del Sol has less than 45 rainy days per year so it’s a real paradise for convertibles. The inhabitants of the northern hemisphere logically associate a convertible with summer, but in fact, here on the Costa del Sol you can enjoy this car at almost any time of year, from spring to autumn.

Most people usually travel with at least one more person, and as you share costs, it’s a great way to hire and drive a convertible on your holidays in Malaga. They’re great fun and…let’s face it…it´s s an eye catcher!

Among the wide range of convertibles of the best brands, the Mini Cabrio convertible remains among the most coveted of the moment. Enjoy the real pleasure of driving, feeling the wind on your skin on the open and enjoying the scenery.

Malagacar.co.uk, at Malaga airport, offers several convertibles of different brands and categories such as: Peugeot 207 Cabrio 4, Mini One Cabrio, Mini Cooper Cabrio automatic, Mercedes CLK Cabrio, BMW 3 Series Cabrio, Volvo C70 Cabrio, Mercedes CLK Cabrio automatic, BMW 3 Series Cabrio automatic and Volvo C70 Cabrio automatic. Minimum age to hire a Cabrio is 27.

Generally, the demand during the high season (July and August) is very high, so we recommend to hire in advance. We can always recommend check prices for car hire Malaga airport for the convenience of traveling in your own vehicle and not having to rely on public transportation or having to take taxis which ultimately turns out a lot more expensive than renting a car.

Malaga has been positioned as the second most important city in Andalusia and is currently one of the most coveted destinations by the national and international tourism. It’s strategically situated between the sea and the mountains. Its excellent geographic location and its privileged climatology allow practically 300 days of sun a year.

The city is situated strategically, in such a way that it’s ideal to set interesting itineraries. It’s located 60 kms away from Marbella; 100 kms away from Ronda; 130 from Granada; and 210 from Seville.

Due to its rich group of museums in Malaga, it’s also known as “the city of museums”. There are currently more than 19 museums, 15 of them situated in the old quarter. The most famous one is the Picasso Museum, located in the Buenavista Palace.

The hotels in Malaga can satisfy the expectations of any visitor, as it’s an ideal destination for both business and leisure.

As far as the gastronomy is concerned, we can find very good beach bars (chiringuitos), as well as a wide offer of specialised restaurants.

Fuengirola, in the province of Malaga, has a total of seven beaches, most of them semi-urban.

Fuengirola, also known as the white villa of Malaga, is one of most well-known spots amongst the sun & beach tourists in Spain, not only for it’s variety and length, but also for its quality, as what most distinguishes the beaches of Fuengirola from the rest is a thorough maintenance on its sand throughout the 365 days a year. Some of the most recommended beaches in Fuengirola are: the Ejido-Castillo beach, the Fuengirola beach and the Los Boliches beach. The first one mentioned, the Ejido-Castillo, with almost a thousand meters of fine sand and crystal clear water, is situated in an incomparable natural environment where we can also witness interesting historical monuments like the Sohail Castle. The Fuengirola beach, which is rather more urban, stands out due to to its enormous influx of tourists and its seafront promenade, packed with restaurants, bars and ‘chiringuitos’ (beach bars) where you can enjoy a cold beer and a delicious tapa. Lastly, there’s the beach of Los Boliches, with well equipped areas to practice many sports. All these beaches offer top quality services, the access to all of them are very handy, and both the sand and the water stand out for being one of the cleanest throughout the Andalusian coast.

Flying to Malaga is within everyone’s reach thanks to the low cost airlines and to the regular companies’ special offers of cheap flights. If we book ahead we can get return flights from cities like Bilbao, Barcelona and Madrid, for about fifty euros. From Malaga to Fuengirola there are daily buses, it’s the cheapest way of transport to get there, but not the most comfortable. As for accomodation, it’s very abundant and varied. There are many cheap hotels and hostels. Renting an apartment is also an excellent option, specially if travelling with all the family or with a large group.

Remember to check our daily offers for car hire in Malaga, we look forward being your travel partner.

Mijas is an ideal place to visit by car and we recommend it to our Malaga car rental customers.

The historical old quarter, with an Arab and circumscriptive design in the mountain scenery, hosts interesting buildings in its whitewashed streets like churches, chapels and hermitages. Its surroundings still conserve some archaeological sites, that are witnesses of the village’s rich prehistoric past. Other emblematic attractions that Mijas offers, are the gastronomy, heiress to the rich Andalusian culinary tradition, and the deep-rooted fairs and other festive events.

Mijas village, Las Lagunas and La Cala de Mijas are the three faces of a municipality that has made the most of all its charm to offer one of the most enchanting tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol.

The city of Malaga is located in the south of mainland Spain right on the Mediterranean coast. The coastal area around Malaga, the Costa del Sol, is rightly called “sun coast” because the climate here is very warm and sunny.

July and August are usually very hot, sometimes blows in these months a hairdryer-like wind. Tourists who don´t tolerate heat, could come to the city in the months between March and May or in September / October: During these months reign in Malaga pleasant but not hot temperatures. June and September are suitable months for a beach holiday without too much heat.

And anyone who plays with the idea to overwinter in Spain, could decide on Malaga: Here it is never really cold! Getting to Malaga is easy; the city has an international airport which is served by the suburban train to the city centre and the main resorts along the coast.

The city of Malaga has beaches of about 20 km in length. Close to the city centre is situated for example the beach La Malagueta. On that sandy beach with up to 60 meters width and two and a half kilometres length there can be found many beach bars. The beach La Misericordia (1.2 km long) is characterized by very fine sand. The beaches of Malaga city are equipped with sanitation facilities and lifeguards are taking care of the bathers during the season.

The past of the city goes back far in history. At times it belonged to the ancient Roman Empire and still can be seen the Roman Amphitheatre situated at the foot of the fortress. The theatre dates from the first century of our era. The fortress of the city, the Alcazaba, was built in the middle Ages, during the reign of the Moors. From the fortress you have a fantastic view over the city. Also impressive is the Cathedral of Malaga. The church was built between 1528 and 1782.

Among the famous sons of the city of Malaga is certainly Pablo Picasso. Art lovers will surely like to visit his birthplace. It is open daily for visitors. To the famous artist is also dedicated a museum in town, the Museo Picasso. There are on display more than 200 pieces of the artist.

Driving your own vehicle will make of your visit to Malaga a greater experience, compare prices for Malaga car hire with us and benefit from our daily offers.

Malaga City Council has organized an extensive program of cultural activities for tourists visiting the city. These activities will take place in the days of greater influx of cruise passengers in various downtown locations. These enclaves are Plaza de Constitution, Alcazabilla Street and Plaza del Obispo.

The implementation of these activities also contributes to promoting the culture of the city. In fact, the planned actions, including dance, music, performances or oil and wine tastings will be developed by local professional groups.

Thus, when getting off their cruise, tourists will receive a brochure that indicates the places and place where the performances will take place. On this first occasion, visitors may attend an exhibition of Spanish classical guitar. This micro-concert of 25 minutes will be repeated every half hour in one of the indicated places. On the other hand, there will be also offered a classical dance show, with the same duration and at the places as listed above.

Finally, there will take place an olive oil tasting with the idea that visitors can enjoy “one of the healthiest foods of the Mediterranean diet.” With all these perspectives and much more to discover in Malaga, we wish you a pleasant stay in the capital of the Costa del Sol!

Marbella is considered the city of the rich and famous. Who can afford a berth for his yacht here, probably belongs to the well-off visitors of this jet set hotspot.

Getting to Puerto Banus

Puerto Banus can be reached most easily from the A-7 motorway, which runs through the municipality. If you follow the directions from the A-7, you reach Puerto Banus at its northern end. Puerto Banus itself is closed to traffic; only the owners of yachts and owners of restaurants and shops can drive in the harbour. Our advice is to park in one of the garages; although even here it might be hard to find a parking space in summer. Those who simply park somewhere may get a nasty surprise as your rental car in Malaga is towed away faster than you can look.

Puerto Banus is a small metropolitan area for itself. The small harbour promenade is lined with elegant boutiques, perfume shops, cafes and restaurants. In a second street running parallel to the promenade, you will find discos, pubs and more exclusive shops. Around Puerto Banus are situated exclusive apartments.

In the summer months Puerto Banus is full to overflowing. Busloads of tourists are carted to the marina and try to photograph one of the celebrities with their cameras for the family album. Some of the VIPs and super-rich can possibly be spotted at night in one of the glamorous discos. Thus remains for many tourists just a photo next to one of luxury cars, Ferrari, Rolls Royce or luxury yachts to be found anywhere in Puerto Banus.

From October to April of Puerto Banus still exudes its original charm. During this time you can stroll comfortably along the promenade and admire the displays the boutiques. Anyone with a little extra cash to spend can also get hold of one or the other chic piece. The prices of the restaurants are also more likely to moderate during the winter months. So you can eat in a restaurant overlooking the sea or sample some tapas of the region and enjoy the beautiful weather on the Costa del Sol.
