Malaga airport is renamed. Well, actually, it will be complemented with the distinctive Costa del Sol: Public Works has accepted the request of the hotel industry for the airport to be named Malaga-Costa del Sol in order to promote brand awareness in the tourism market.
The benefit of this is to image and marketing, as the millions of visitors who come to the province through Malaga airport know that “Malaga and the Costa del Sol are tourist references.”
Also from the Tourist Board of the Costa del Sol is stressed the need to add another “more important” step to this action, which is the change of IATA code for Malaga airport.
That is, AGP, as the international airport of Malaga is known, is changed into SOL (SUN). “It would be a daily promotion; we would be the first to include sun, which at international level is also what we more sell.”
